Placed under the authority of a Director, the Department of Preschool and Primary Education is responsible for:

– the administrative coordination of public establishments of Nursery, Primary Education and Community Preschool Centers;

– the summary of teaching staff needs, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department and the Regional Delegations for Basic Education;

– determining the types of support necessary for the operation of Community Preschool Centers;

– the synthesis of the needs relating to the creation and opening of public establishments of Nursery and Primary Education, in liaison with the Division of Planning, Projects and Cooperation;

– the promotion and implementation of the community-based preschool education policy;

–         monitoring the implementation of the National Policy for the Comprehensive Development of Young Children (PN/DIJE);

–         monitoring the activities of Community Preschool Centers;

–         the promotion of equity by reducing disparities linked to gender, geographical areas and socio-cultural constraints;

–         monitoring the effectiveness of free access for children of school age to public primary schools;

–         the transformation of primary schools into bilingual schools and/or demonstration schools;

–         monitoring the schooling policy for young girls.

She understands :

           – the Sub-Directorate of Nursery Education;

           – the Sub-Directorate of Primary Education.
