Friday the 22nd of march 2024, in the conference hall of the Ministry of Basic Education, the Minister of Basic Education Pr Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA accompanied by by the Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family Professor ABENA Marie ONDOA, presided over the ceremony to launch the operation to draw up and establish birth certificates to 110.000 pupils of level three in government primary schools nationwide with particular emphasis on the education priority zones. That is, CM2,CM1, class 5 and class 6 pupils who do not have birth certificates. This timely and august ceremony which brought together officials of the world bank, officials of the united Ntion Systems, technical and financial partners of education and supervised by the World Bank through Camerron Education Reform Project PAREC, had two major interventions.This include an elaborate and exhaustive explanation of how the operation will be carried life by the World Bank Country Director Mr CHEICK KANTE followed by a speech in which the Minister of Basic Education appreciated the efforts of the partners and laid emphasis on the fact that these attempt is to grant access to education and guarantee the completion rate of public primary school pupils. He equally warned against the act of establishing birth certificates to pupils later in life in order to reduce their ages. Experience has shown that these children will have difficulties later in life especially when they are of age to get a National Identity Card.

Amidst participants from the central and devolved services in the Ministry of Basic Education and personnel from the Cameroon Education Reform Project, this ceremony ended up with family photos and interview.
